Apparel Fulfillment: Pick, Pack and Ship

In short

Apparel fulfillment is storing finished merch and shipping it out, either one order at a time to your customers or in bulk to a warehouse, store or venue. We pick, pack and ship Shopify and other direct-to-consumer orders, manage the inventory and send bulk or palletized shipments from our Southern California facility, so you are not running a warehouse yourself.

Why fulfillment

Fulfillment, done right.

A lot of the trouble after launch day is fulfillment trouble: the wrong size in the bag, a stack of hoodie boxes filling a garage, a week of evenings spent buying postage and taping mailers. Fulfillment hands that work to us. Finished stock is counted into inventory, orders arrive from your store, and each one is picked, packed and shipped with tracking, while bulk orders go out by the carton or on pallets.

Keeping production and fulfillment together removes a freight leg and a handoff. When we also make the goods, finished stock can move into fulfillment without a trip to a separate warehouse, and finishing like labels, tags and bags is already done when the first order comes in. That matters most during a drop, when a burst of orders lands at once and every count has to be right.

How it works

From file to finished.

Fulfillment starts with inventory. Finished goods are counted in by SKU, the code for each style, color and size combination, and stored so every SKU can be found quickly. Accurate counts matter because a store that shows the wrong stock keeps selling sizes that are gone.

Orders come in from your Shopify store or another direct-to-consumer channel. For each one, the items are picked from inventory, checked against the order, packed in the mailer or box you chose, labeled and shipped. Each order ships with tracking. How orders reach us, and how tracking and stock counts get back to your store, depends on your platform, so raise it at the quote stage.

Packing is where fulfillment and finishing meet. An order can ship in a plain poly mailer, or wrapped in tissue with a sticker seal inside a branded box, as long as the packaging is stocked alongside the garments. Bundles and gift sets can be packed in advance and stored as a single SKU, which keeps picking simple when orders spike.

Not every shipment is a parcel. Bulk ship-out sends cartons to a retailer, a venue, an office or another warehouse, and larger volumes go out palletized as freight. Splitting a run, with part shipped in bulk and the rest held for online orders, lets a tour, a store and a web shop all draw from the same production.

Is it right for your order?

When to choose it, and when not to.

Choose fulfillment when
  • You sell through Shopify or another online store and do not want to pack orders yourself.
  • You are launching a drop and expect a burst of orders in the first days.
  • You want production and fulfillment in one place instead of freighting stock to a separate warehouse.
  • A run needs to be split between bulk cartons for stores or events and stock for online orders.
  • You need inventory counted by size and color so your store shows accurate stock.
  • You ship pallets or cartons to retailers, venues or offices as well as parcels to customers.
Pick something else when
  • You sell a handful of items a month and are happy to pack them yourself; a bulk screen printing run delivered to you is enough.
  • Every order is a unique design printed only after it sells, which is a print-on-demand model rather than stocked inventory.
  • You only need finished goods delivered to one address in one shipment, which bulk ship-out after retail finishing covers.
Options

What we can do

Pick and pack per order

Each order picked from your inventory, checked against the order, packed in your chosen mailer or box, labeled for shipping and sent with tracking.

Shopify and direct-to-consumer orders

Orders from Shopify and other direct-to-consumer stores picked, packed and shipped from our Southern California facility, so the stock never has to pass through your hands.

Bulk ship-out

Cartons of finished goods sent to a retailer, a warehouse, a venue or an office, packed and labeled by destination so the receiving end can check them in quickly.

Palletized freight

Larger volumes stacked, wrapped and shipped on pallets, the efficient way to move a full run to a distribution center or a retailer's warehouse.

Inventory management

Stock counted in by style, color and size and tracked as orders ship, so a reorder can be planned before a size sells out.

Branded order packing

Orders can go out in a plain mailer or with tissue, a sticker seal and a branded box, so every package a customer opens looks the same.

Files & artwork

What to send

  1. 01

    A SKU list

Every style, color and size you sell, with the SKU codes your store uses, so inventory and incoming orders match line for line.

  2. 02

    Packing instructions

What goes in each package, mailer or box, tissue, sticker or card, and any rules for gift orders, bundles or orders with several items.

  3. 03

    Launch date and expected volume

When the drop goes live and a rough order count, so stock is counted in and packing materials are ready before orders arrive.

  4. 04

    Bulk delivery details

For bulk and palletized shipments, the delivery address, any dock or appointment rules, and the receiving requirements of the warehouse or retailer.

Garments

What it suits best

  1. 01

    Tees and long sleeves

Light and flat, they fold to a consistent size and ship in a poly mailer, the simplest and lightest kind of order to fulfill.

  2. 02

    Hoodies and crewnecks

Bulky pieces push up package size and shipping cost, so a tight fold and the right mailer or box help keep dimensional weight down.

  3. 03

    Hats

Structured caps need a box or rigid mailer to keep the crown from being crushed, so packaging is planned for each hat SKU.

  4. 04

    Bundles and gift sets

Pre-packed bundles ship as one item, which speeds up picking and keeps the unboxing the same for every customer.

Care
  • Add a care card to each order so customers know how to wash their prints and embroidery.
  • Ship heavy fleece folded in boxes rather than tight mailers to limit deep creases.
  • Tell customers that fold lines in a hoodie relax after a wash or a day on a hanger.
What Merch Mob does

How an order runs

Six steps, nothing skipped.

Minimums and turnaround depend on the method, the garment and the run. The quote spells out both within 24 hours. DTG printing has no minimum, so a run of a few pieces is welcome.

  1. 01

    Quote & discovery

Send the details and artwork. Within 24 hours you get line-item pricing for garments, decoration, finishing and quantities, with a committed timeline.

  2. 02

    Specs & approval

Artwork is reviewed, a spec sheet is issued and a digital mockup is approved before anything runs. Sizes and colorways are confirmed here.

  3. 03

    Sourcing & setup

Blanks are sourced and checked on arrival. Screens are burned or embroidery digitized, files are prepped and a strike-off is run.

  4. 04

    Production

The first pieces are checked and signed off before the full run, with color and registration checks along the way.

  5. 05

    Finishing & packaging

Labels applied, folded, bagged, tagged and packed to spec, then a final QC pass.

  6. 06

    Delivery & fulfillment

Bulk shipped to you, your warehouse or a retailer, or picked, packed and shipped order by order to your customers.

FAQ

Fulfillment questions

Do you fulfill Shopify orders?

Yes. We pick, pack and ship Shopify and other direct-to-consumer orders from our Southern California facility, with tracking on each shipment. How orders flow from your store depends on your setup, so tell us your platform and any apps you use when you request a quote, and the connection can be planned before launch.

Where do orders ship from?

Orders ship from our facility in Southern California. Shipping cost depends on the weight and size of the package, the carrier service and the distance, which carriers measure in zones counted from the origin. Customers closer to the West Coast generally receive ground parcels sooner than those on the East Coast.

What does apparel fulfillment cost?

Fulfillment pricing is usually built from a few parts: receiving and counting stock in, storage, a per-order pick and pack charge, packaging materials and postage. Order size, the number of SKUs and the packaging you choose move each one. The quote spells out how your setup is priced, within 24 hours of your request.

Can you ship in bulk to a retailer or warehouse?

Yes. Bulk ship-out sends cartons to a retailer, a warehouse, a venue or an office, and larger runs can ship palletized as freight. A run can also be split, with some stock shipped in bulk and the rest kept in inventory for online orders. Send any routing or receiving rules from the destination ahead of time.

Can you handle a drop launch?

Drops are where fulfillment pays off: stock is counted in before launch, packing materials are ready, and orders are picked and packed as they arrive. Share your launch date, expected order volume and any pre-order plans early, so the quote and timeline account for them.

Do you manage inventory?

Yes. Stock is counted in by style, color and size and tracked as orders ship, so you know what is left and can plan a restock before a size sells out. How those counts reach your store depends on your platform; keeping the store's numbers in step with real stock is what prevents overselling.

Can orders include tissue, stickers or branded boxes?

Yes. Orders can ship in a plain poly mailer or with your tissue wrap, sticker seal and branded box. The packaging becomes part of the inventory, so keep enough on hand for the orders you expect and the pick and pack stays on schedule.
