Custom Gym Shirts and Merch for Gyms and Studios
Merch Mob makes custom gym shirts and merch: member tees, coach and staff apparel, challenge and competition shirts, tanks, hoodies and hats. Performance blanks and cotton need different decoration, and the quote and spec sheet set out which suits your shirts. Production is in Southern California, shipping across the US, and quotes come back within 24 hours.

What good looks like.
Gym apparel does work a logo on the wall cannot. Members wear it to train, to the coffee shop afterward and to other gyms when they travel, and a shirt earned for finishing a challenge becomes a badge. Coaches in matching apparel are easy to find on a busy floor, and a hoodie that feels good after class is the one people buy again. For many studios, merch is also a small, steady line beside memberships.
Good gym merch is built for sweat. Performance polyester wicks and dries fast, but it needs inks made for it, because the fabric's dye can migrate into a light print when it is heat cured. Cotton and tri-blend tees are softer to wear outside the gym. Fit matters as much as the print, since people train in these clothes, so tanks and cropped cuts need art sized for them.
What gyms order, and why.
- 01
Member tees
A soft tee or tank with the gym logo, sold at the front desk or included with a membership, turns members into a visible community and a walking ad.
- 02
Coach and staff apparel
Shirts in a distinct color with COACH or STAFF on the back, or embroidered polos and quarter-zips for the front desk, so members know who to ask.
- 03
Challenge and competition shirts
A shirt for finishing a challenge, an in-house competition or a charity workout. These dated, short runs suit a couple of ink colors on a performance or tri-blend blank.
- 04
Tanks and cropped cuts
Training cuts members actually work out in: muscle tanks, racerbacks and cropped tees. Check the print size on small sizes so the art does not run into the armholes.
- 05
Hoodies and crewnecks
Fleece for the walk in on a cold morning and usually the top-priced item on the rack. A small chest logo with a back print suits members who layer over training gear.
- 06
Opening and founding-member merch
A grand opening run, a founding-member tee or an anniversary design rewards the people who joined early and gives them something new members cannot buy.
How we make it
Screen Printing
The value choice for member and challenge tees once quantities build, with the ink matched to the exact blank at spec review.
MethodDTG Printing
No minimum, which suits founding-member shirts, a small coach order or a full-color design. It works best on 100% cotton or high-cotton blends, not on performance polyester.
MethodEmbroidery
Polos, quarter-zips, caps and beanies for coaches and front desk staff get a stitched logo that looks professional and lasts through constant washing, digitizing included.
MethodAll-Over Print
Cut-panel sublimation on polyester prints the whole garment, so training tees, hoodies and shorts can carry edge-to-edge camo, team colors or a pattern without a heavy ink layer.
- 01
Performance polyester tees
Moisture-wicking and quick-drying for hard sessions, and the usual pick for members who train in their shirt. They do not suit DTG or discharge.
- 02
Tri-blend tees and tanks
A cotton, polyester and rayon mix that drapes and stays soft. Water-based prints on it take on a slightly heathered, worn-in look.
- 03
Muscle tanks and cropped tees
Cuts people actually train in. Size the art for the narrower body and check it on the smallest size in the run.
- 04
Midweight hoodies
Cotton-rich fleece for the retail rack and for coaches on early cold mornings, with a clean chest logo.
- 05
Sublimated shorts
Cut-panel all-over print on polyester shorts gives a gym team or competition squad a matching look.
- A gym's first order is often a member tee in a couple of colors and coach shirts in a contrasting color, with hoodies and tanks added once the rack sells.
- Challenge and competition shirts tend to be short, dated runs sized from the sign-up list.
- Studios with a strong community often release a new member design each season rather than reprinting the same logo tee.
- Will the print crack or peel on sweaty workout shirts?
- Can you print on moisture-wicking performance shirts?
- What should coaches wear so members can spot them?
- Can we do a small batch of founding-member shirts?
- Should we sell merch or include it with memberships?
When to order, by region.
- Desert Southwest. January sign-ups bring a big wave of new members, and summer heat keeps training indoors or at dawn and dusk. Tanks and lightweight performance tees work for most of the year here.
- California. New Year sign-ups and a spring push before summer are the two natural moments for new member tees. Outdoor and beach training all year makes tanks, light performance tees and caps steady items.
- Texas and Oklahoma. The New Year rush is the moment for a new member tee or a challenge shirt. Long, hot summers favor tanks and performance fabrics from May to September, and hoodies are mostly a winter retail item.
- Florida, the Gulf Coast and the Deep South. Heat and humidity for much of the year make moisture-wicking tees and tanks the training staples. January resolutions and a spring push before beach season are natural times for a challenge shirt.
- Upper South and Mid-Atlantic. January memberships and spring challenges are the main moments for new member tees. Hoodies and crewnecks matter from November through February, and the summer heat calls for tanks.
- Mountain West. Cold, early winters put hoodies and beanies on the gym rack by October. Summer pulls members outside for trail running and climbing, so a lightweight performance tee fits June to August.
- Pacific Northwest. The long wet season keeps training indoors from October to May, which suits a hoodie or crewneck on the retail rack. A new member tee fits the January rush.
- Midwest and Plains. Winter keeps members indoors, and the January rush lands in the coldest weeks, so a new member tee or winter challenge shirt fits the first quarter. Hoodies and beanies suit October through March.
- Northeast. January sign-ups arrive in deep winter, so fleece and long sleeves are the retail priority then. A summer challenge shirt or tank suits the short warm season and beach weekends.
- Hawaii. Warm weather all year means tanks, light performance tees and shorts make up most gym apparel. Outdoor training and paddling favor quick-drying fabrics and sun-shielding long sleeves.
- Alaska. Long winters keep members training indoors from October to April, so hoodies and long sleeves carry the retail rack. Summer brings outdoor training under long daylight, and a lightweight tee fits that short season.

Merch for gyms: questions
What fabric should custom gym shirts be?
It depends on how they are worn. Members who train in the shirt want moisture-wicking polyester or a tri-blend that stays light when wet. Shirts worn outside the gym, and most retail tees, feel better in soft cotton or a cotton-rich blend. Many gyms carry both: a performance tee for training and a cotton tee or hoodie for everyday wear.
Can you screen print on performance polyester?
It depends on the fabric and color. Polyester's dye can migrate into ink when it is heated, which turns a white print pink or gray on a red or dark shirt. The usual fixes are low-bleed ink, a lower cure temperature and sometimes a blocking underbase, so name the exact blank in your quote request and the spec review will say what works. DTG is not a good fit for polyester, and for full-color designs on performance fabric, cut-panel sublimation works better.
How much do custom gym shirts cost, and what is the minimum?
DTG has no minimum. For screen printing and embroidery, the minimum and price depend on quantity, the blank (performance fabrics usually cost more than basic cotton), ink colors, print locations and finishing. The quote comes back within 24 hours with line-item pricing and a committed timeline.
Should coaches have different shirts from members?
Yes, if you want members to find them fast. Use a color members cannot buy, put COACH or STAFF large on the back, and keep the front logo the same as the member tee. For front desk and management, an embroidered polo or quarter-zip reads as staff without looking like a uniform.
How quickly can we get challenge or competition shirts?
That depends on blank stock, the number of colors, quantity and finishing, and the quote commits to a timeline within 24 hours. Close sign-ups early enough that sizes are final before you order, because a shirt printed after the event loses most of its point.
Can we sell gym merch online?
Yes. We pick, pack and ship Shopify and direct-to-consumer orders from our So Cal facility and manage the inventory, so members can buy online and the front desk does not become a shipping room. In-gym stock can ship to you in bulk at the same time.
