Decorating it
| Method | What to know |
|---|---|
| DTG Printing | Lane Seven pitches this hoodie at DTG, and the 100% cotton face is the reason. Pretreat evenly and press the fleece flat; solids print brighter than the polyester-heavier heathers. |
| Screen Printing | The maker asks decorators to test before screen printing and notes heather content differs. Use low-bleed ink on heathers and confirm cure on thick fleece. |
| Embroidery | Midweight three-end fleece holds chest, sleeve and back embroidery well with a cut-away backing. The fleece-lined hood also takes small marks. |
Lane Seven is a California blank apparel brand with a strong fleece range, and the LS14001 is its flagship: the maker calls it the hoodie that started the line. It is a mid-weight, soft-handed pullover made for decorators, and Lane Seven pitches it directly at DTG printing.
Who the LS14001 suits
It suits clothing brands and creators who want a retail-feeling hoodie without the price of a heavyweight fashion blank, plus companies and bands that want staff or tour hoodies people keep wearing. The regular fit and extended sizing to 5XL work across a broad audience. If the brief calls for a thick, boxy, heavyweight streetwear hoodie, this is lighter and trimmer than that.
Fabric, weight and feel
The maker lists a three-end fleece at 8.25 oz (280 GSM). Three-end fleece knits three yarns together: a face yarn, a tie-in yarn and a heavier back yarn that is brushed into the soft inside. Every LS14001 has a 100% cotton face; the overall blends differ by color:
- Solids: 80/20 cotton/recycled polyester.
- Heathers: 60/40 cotton/recycled polyester.
- Heather Grey: 70/30 cotton/recycled polyester.
The cotton face gives a smooth, matte outside, and the brushed back gives a soft, warm inside. French terry vs fleece explains how a brushed back differs from an unbrushed loop. Lane Seven also claims low shrinkage for this fleece.
Construction from the maker: a three-panel hood lined with fleece, side seams, double-needle topstitching on all seams, dyed-to-match drawcords with tipped ends through metal eyelets, a kangaroo pocket, ribbed cuffs and waistband, and tear-away tags that make relabeling simple. It is made in Pakistan.
Decorating the LS14001
DTG
DTG is the method Lane Seven leads with. The cotton face takes water-based DTG ink, but dark colors still need an even coat of pretreatment and a firm press to flatten the fleece surface before printing. Solid colors print brighter and cleaner than heathers, which carry more polyester.
Screen printing
The cotton face takes plastisol and water-based inks well. The maker's own production note asks decorators to run their own tests before screen printing and warns that heather colors differ in content. On those heathers, low-bleed ink reduces dye migration risk with white and light colors. Thick fleece needs longer in the dryer than a tee, and the kangaroo pocket defines the bottom of most front prints.
DTF and embroidery
Lane Seven also lists DTF and embroidery as suggested decoration. For embroidery, midweight fleece is a stable base for chest logos, sleeve hits and back designs with a cut-away embroidery backing. The fleece-lined hood can take a small mark, though hoops and frames need to clear the lining seams.
Sizing notes
Lane Seven describes the fit as regular and true to size, with a suggestion to size up for a looser fit. Its product photos show a male model in a Large and a female model in a Small, which is a useful reference for unisex customers. Sizes run XS to 5XL. Lane Seven publishes item specs in both inches and centimeters, worth pulling into your own size chart.
Alternatives
- A value midweight with a broad palette and camo options: the Independent Trading SS4500.
- A heavier, cross-grain heritage hoodie with a visible maker logo: the Champion Reverse Weave hoodie.
