Lane Seven makes blanks for decorators, and fleece is where it puts most of its effort. Its site lists addresses in Irwindale, California, and Gastonia, North Carolina, and pitches its hoodies to screen printers as an upgrade over basic fleece. The range is organized into collections such as Premium, Heavyweight, Urban, Heavy Core, French Terry, Thermal, Nantucket and Element, plus women's cuts and a youth version of the LS14001. Every product page lists suggested decoration methods, and the core styles name screen printing, embroidery, DTF and DTG.

The hoodie ladder

Most Lane Seven hoodies are three-end fleece in cotton blended with recycled polyester. They differ in weight, blend and cut:

LS19001 Heavyweight Pullover10 oz (340 GSM)70/30 cotton/recycled polyRegular; lined three-panel hood, drawcords
LS16001 Urban Hoodie10 oz (340 GSM)80/20 cotton/recycled polyOversized; double-layer hood, no drawcords
LS17001 Heavy Core16.5 oz (560 GSM)65/35 cotton/recycled poly, French terryRelaxed; raglan sleeves, no drawcords

The LS14001 is the one most people mean by a Lane Seven hoodie, and it has its own spec page. The Urban line is built for streetwear: fabric dyed before cutting for even color, a double-layer hood, and garment-dyed or PFD versions of the same hoodie and its matching tee. Lane Seven's PFD pieces come with cotton thread so they take dye along with the body, and the brand asks for a test run with your dye house before bulk production.

The Future Fleece hoodie (LS18002) is the brand's sustainability piece: a 55/45 cotton/polyester fleece made from regenerated yarn, which Lane Seven says comes from post-consumer waste and cutting-room scraps and skips the dyeing stage.

How the fleece decorates

On a cotton-faced fleece, ink lands on cotton while the polyester sits behind it. That suits DTG and water-based ink on the face, but the polyester can still give up dye into light plastisol during curing on dark colors, the effect called dye migration. Lane Seven asks decorators to test before screen printing and warns that heather colors may differ in content, which is the practical reason to ask for low-bleed ink and a strike-off on heathers. Discharge will lift dye only from the cotton fibers, so blends discharge less fully than all-cotton fleece.

For embroidery, the 10 and 16.5 oz hoodies are stable bases for dense logos and 3D puff. The Heavy Core's raglan sleeves change placement: there is no shoulder seam, so a sleeve print or a high chest mark sits differently than on a set-in sleeve.

The tees

The LS15001 Heavyweight Tee is 5.6 oz (190 GSM) combed, ring-spun cotton in 20 singles, side seamed with shoulder taping, standard fit and sized XS to 4XL. Its tight-knit face gives a smooth surface for fine screen prints and DTG; its heathers are 60/40 and Heather Grey is 90/10. The LS16005 Urban Heavy Tee is much heavier at 7.66 oz (260 GSM) in 26-doubles combed cotton, cut oversized, boxy and slightly cropped. Being all cotton and dyed as fabric, it is a good candidate for discharge testing, and its garment-dyed and PFD versions suit labels that want a washed look.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the difference between the Lane Seven LS14001 and LS19001?

Both are regular-fit, true-to-size pullovers in three-end fleece with a lined three-panel hood and drawcords. The LS14001 is 8.25 oz (280 GSM) with an 80/20 cotton/recycled polyester blend in solids. The LS19001 is heavier at 10 oz (340 GSM) with a 70/30 blend and a narrower size range, XS to 3X.

Can you DTG print Lane Seven hoodies?

Lane Seven lists DTG as a suggested method on its hoodies and describes the LS14001's cotton face as ideal for it. The polyester behind the face does not take DTG ink, so the printer pretreats and prints the cotton surface only. Expect softer edges than on a tee, since fleece has more surface fiber.
