Cotton Heritage Blanks: M2580 Hoodie, Heavy Fleece and Tees

Short answer

Cotton Heritage is a City of Commerce, California blank maker that describes itself as mill-direct and WRAP-certified. Its core is cotton-faced fleece: the 8.5 oz M2580 pullover, the 14 oz M2650 and the 10 oz M2635 Box Hoodie, alongside light tubular tees and a garment-dyed line. The fleece pairs a 100% cotton face with a cotton/polyester body, which the brand pitches for discharge printing.

Cotton Heritage is based in City of Commerce, California, and sells blank tees, fleece and bottoms to decorators and brands. On its own site it calls itself a mill-direct, WRAP-certified company and stresses printability. The catalog spans unisex, women's and youth cuts, a garment-dyed line, and a private label program, but most buyers come to it for fleece.

Cotton-faced fleece, three weights

The core hoodies share one construction. Each is a three-end fleece, soft-washed, with a 100% cotton face knit over a cotton/polyester blend. The face is the outer surface you print on; the blend behind it adds softness and keeps cost below all-cotton fleece. What changes from style to style is weight and cut:

StyleWeightBlend behind the faceCut
M2580 Unisex Premium Pullover Hoodie8.5 oz65/35 cotton/polyesterUnisex, side-seamed
M2635 Box Hoodie10.0 oz60/40 cotton/polyesterOversized, drop shoulder, no drawcord
M2650 Heavyweight Hoodie14.0 oz60/40 cotton/polyesterUnisex, side-seamed

Heathers are the exception to watch. Several heather colors move to a 55/45 or 52/48 blend, so they carry more polyester than the solids in the same style.

The M2580 has small touches decorators use: a fabric half-moon at the back neck that can take a small print or a sewn label, flat drawcords, and a tear-away label for relabeling. Private label finishing covers what goes on a replacement neck label.

How the fleece prints

A cotton face is the reason this kind of fleece suits discharge ink and water-based work, and Cotton Heritage says outright that the M2580, M2650 and Box Hoodie are great for discharging. Two cautions apply. Discharge pulls out dye, so the result still varies by color, and it cannot touch polyester. And the heather colors, with their higher polyester share, are more likely to release dye into light plastisol during curing. That bleed, called dye migration, is why printers reach for low-bleed inks on blended heathers.

DTG works on the cotton face with pretreatment, though fleece has more surface fiber than jersey, so expect slightly softer edges than on a tee. For embroidery, the 10 and 14 oz styles give a stable base for left-chest marks, full-back designs and puff; the 8.5 oz M2580 handles a chest logo comfortably with the right backing.

Tees: light tubular and garment dyed

The M1045 is a 4.3 oz tubular tee in combed, ring-spun 30-singles cotton, soft-washed and sized XS to 5XL. Fine yarn gives a smooth surface for detailed screen prints and DTG, but at this weight dense embroidery will pucker, so keep stitched logos small and open.

The OU1690 Garment Dye Short Sleeve is heavier at 5.5 oz of 25-singles ring-spun cotton, cut oversized and dyed after sewing. Cotton Heritage notes that its garment-dye styles vary in shade and weathering from piece to piece. That is the look, but it means ink colors should be approved on the lot you will actually print. The OU2600 Garment Dye Fleece Hoodie brings the same washed finish to an 8.8 oz cotton-faced fleece. Garment-dyed blanks explained goes deeper on lot variation.

Choosing a Cotton Heritage style

  • Staff, school and event hoodies on a sensible budget: the M2580.
  • A hoodie that feels substantial in the hand and holds heavy embroidery: the M2650.
  • A boxier streetwear shape without drawcords: the M2635.
  • A light, soft giveaway tee in a big size range: the M1045.
  • A vintage wash on a tee or hoodie: the OU1690 or OU2600, with a test print first.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the Cotton Heritage M2580?

It is the brand's Unisex Premium Pullover Hoodie: 8.5 oz three-end fleece with a 100% cotton face over a 65/35 cotton/polyester blend, a three-panel hood, flat drawcords and a tear-away label. Three heather colors use a 55/45 blend instead. It comes in XS to 4XL.

Is Cotton Heritage fleece 100% cotton?

Not all the way through. The hoodies listed here have a 100% cotton outer face knit over a cotton/polyester blend, and some heathers carry more polyester than the solids. The cotton face is what you print on; the blend inside is softer and cheaper than all-cotton fleece.

Can you discharge print on Cotton Heritage hoodies?

The maker says the M2580, M2650 and Box Hoodie are great for discharging, thanks to the cotton face. Discharge still depends on the dye in each color, and heathers with more polyester discharge less. Ask your printer for a test pull on the exact color before you approve the run.

What does WRAP-certified mean?

WRAP is an independent certification program that audits apparel factories for social compliance, covering areas such as labor practices, health and safety. Cotton Heritage states that it is WRAP-certified. If certification matters to your buyers, ask the brand for its current certificate, since audits are renewed periodically.
